Hire a wedding photographer you vibe with and who’s work you love!

You’re going to be working together for a whole year until your wedding day, on top of the 10 hours day of. Can you imagine if they suck?? The work is important, of course, but you really want to make sure you all gel well together. They’re going to be spending the most time with you day of, and capturing some super intimate moments of your life. If they pass the vibe check, that’s a huge plus.

Do a first look

I mean...just look! You get to have alone time together, you get up close and personal photos of your reactions and emotions, which can be difficult to get at the altar. Plus, you get TWO portrait times - one before the ceremony as a “fail safe” in case the ceremony runs late and we run out of light after + one after the ceremony with bomb golden hour lighting. If you’re not sure about a first look, I’ve got a whole blog laying out the pros and cons right here.

And if you’re wondering if it takes anything away from the emotion of the ceremony? Nope.

Schedule in time for couples photos during golden hour!

This is the BEST lighting in the whole day. It’s warm and glowing and makes you two look like the angels you are. In general, just keep lighting in mind throughout the whole day! It’s probably not the best idea to get ready in a dark room or to schedule your ceremony in the middle of the blazing hot sun in August. Lighting is everything when it comes to photography, and keeping that in the back of your head while planning is key. I’m very heavily involved in the timeline and photo location planning process to ensure we have the most optimal lighting and setting for your photos!

Hire a great photographer!

At the end of the day, your photos are only as good as the photographer you hire, which is why it’s super super important to invest in your photography. At the end of the day, all you will have left is your wedding photos.  If your photographer is experienced, they’ll be able to help you properly pre-plan and also be able to work with what they’ve got on the wedding day and make everything look BOMB AF! From tricky lighting, to venue restrictions, and even making sure you don’t have lipstick on your teeth or a crooked tie, you’ll want that extra level of expertise with you the whole day.

If you’re in the market for an epic Los Angeles wedding photographer, you’re in luck!
